Britpop: Birmingham Vintage Festival

Back in September I was given the chance to exhibit at the second Birmingham Vintage Fair as organised by the incredible Rickie Josen. As well as showing off a few of my photographs I also took some more of the event as it unfolded, which can be seen in this post.

Having seen the short promotional film produced by Glacier Films of the inaugural event, I thought it would be a great opportunity to do my own film of this britpop themed event. I decided to base the film around the song ‘Comfort In Food’ by The Nortons who provided the music on the day. This is the result.

The fair once again took place in the fabulous surroundings of the AE Harris buildings in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter, which is a great venue and is much a part of the character of the fair as the people.

Vintage Chic Wedding Fair In Nottinghamshire

In a warm and sunny June, the Vintage Chic Wedding Fair held their third event in the beautiful surroundings of East Bridgford Hill, Nottinghamshire. As well as taking some photographs of the event, which can be seen in this post, I put together this short film of the many exhibitors who made the day such a success.

meeni @ Goldney Hall Wedding Fayre

Meeni recently attended the first wedding fayre to be held by Goldney Hall and unlike most wedding fayres where exhibitors are located in one large room, this fayre allowed exhibitors to be based in rooms within the main House, Orangery and gardens.

Meeni was located in the beautiful surrounds of the Orangery and this film follows her as she sets up and meets some of the brides to be.

One Day On Earth 10.10.10

On October 10, 2010 (10.10.10), across the planet, documentary filmmakers, students, and inspired citizens recorded the human experience over a 24-hour period and contributed their voice to the largest participatory media event in history.

Founded in 2008, ONE DAY ON EARTH is creating an online community, shared archive, and film. Together, we are showcasing the amazing diversity, conflict, tragedy, and triumph that occur in one day. We invite you to join our international community of thousands of filmmakers, hundreds of schools, and dozens of non-profits, and contribute to this unique global mosaic. One Day on Earth is a community that not only watches, but participates.

I wanted to be part of this project and so I decided to shoot footage of what I was doing on that day. Nothing was pre-planned and everything was shot handheld on a Canon 550D. This is the film I submitted to the project.

Rochester Chimney BlowDown

A few weeks ago I was invited to film the demolition of the CEMEX cement plant chimney in Rochester Road, Halling on Sunday, September 19th. The 375ft chimney took nine months to build back in the 1970s but it took only seconds to fall in an explosion rigged by Armoury Demolition.

First Aid Kit | Ghost Town

Earlier this month I was lucky enough to see First Aid Kit for the second time this year. The performance was amazing and once again the girls gave a completely acoustic performance, at the front of stage, of Ghost Town, one of the most beautiful songs on their album The Big Black and The Blue.

I managed to capture the performance on my iPhone and decided to share it with you here.

WE ALL NEED HEROES – ACOUSTIC SESSION
