In an effort to shoot more in 2011, I joined the 1365 Project group on Flickr. It means I’ll be taking one photo each day with my iPhone, posting to the group and sharing techniques, ideas and thoughts on iPhone photography. As I’ve now reached day 125 I thought I’d share my work to date here – this slideshow will show you all of the photographs I’ve taken and will stay linked to the project so even if you are reading this post after it’s original publication date the newest images will always appear.

I’ve found it a very rewarding experience so far and even on those days when I’ve not travelled far or encountered anything new and interesting it’s made me look at those things that surround me that perhaps I have taken for granted and not looked in a while in a new light.

Vintage Chic Wedding Fair @ The Old Library

Last month I was able to take photographs at the Midlands Vintage Chic Wedding Fair, which was held at The Old Library in The Custard Factory, Birmingham on Sunday 30th January 2011.

Once again my partner Madeline was exhibiting along with many familiar faces from the Worcester fair. It was an incredibly busy day and congratulations must go to Cathy for organising such a great event.

Fairbourne 2010

I’ve taken a step away from my regular iphoneography photographs with this set taken on a recent visit to Fairbourne in Wales.

Since having been made redundant I have had to improve my kit and so I took the leap and purchased a Canon EOS 550D. I bought the Canon primarily to be able to shoot high definition video but it also gives me the opportunity to take a different kind of photograph.

Fairbourne is a beautiful place and I hope these images capture just a little of it’s magic.

All photographs were taken on a Canon EOS 550D camera with processing done in Lightroom.

Street Signs Project

I was looking for a new project to do over the spring and I decided that I would take photographs of all the street signs I passed. The idea is to stop, take one shot from the best possible position with my iPhone and then process with apps.

These are the results – and I’ll adding more to the series as I pass more signs.

All photographs were taken on a iPhone 3GS (3 megapixel) camera, Helga and Lolo filter enhancements made with the camerabag application.

Wyre Forest Autumn

These photographs were taken during a recent visit to the Wyre Forest near Bewdley.

As autumn was in full swing the forest took on an amazing look and these images hopefully capture some of the beauty of this incredible natural landscape.

To enhance the amazing landscape, I’ve used filters from Camerabag to really bring out the colours in some of the photographs and to create mood in others.

Portmeirion Lolo

This is a new set of photographs taken in August in Portmeirion, Wales.

Portmeirion was built by Welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. It’s probably most famous for being the location of classic 60′s TV show ‘The Prisoner’. It’s a truly amazing place to visit. To enhance the already vivid landscape and architecture there I’ve used the Lolo filter from Camerabag to really bring out the colours.

Statues

Statues is an experimental series of photographs taken in Birmingham and further afield. It uses the iPhone and an application called CameraBag (iTunes App Store link) to enhance the images using classic camera and film simulations.

The CameraBag app focuses on emulating the styles and processes from some of the most interesting cameras of the past and is a fantastic addition to any iPhone users set of photographic tools.

The Statues series will continue to grow so keep on eye on this page or the Flickr page for new additions.

Iron: Man

This sequence of photographs are of one of my favourite pieces of public art, Iron: Man by Antony Gormley. The sculpture was erected in 1993 in Victoria Square, Birmingham as a gift to the City from the TSB (Trustee Savings Bank).

Although it has caused controversy over the years with many local people expressing a dislike for the piece, I’m glad that it has remained a focal point for the City.

All photographs were taken on a Olympus C2 (2 megapixel) compact digital camera on a trip to the City in 2004.
