BACK TO THE GRID
Back in 1982 I saw a film that changed cinema. It was a film that used cutting edge CGI to bring it’s world of life inside the main frame to life. We entered the grid for the first time. The film was TRON.
The original TRON is one of those films that has stuck with me over the years, it’s full of great ideas and visuals. I still have fond memories of finding a proper TRON video game cabinet in the local arcade and spending far to much money on it’s recreations of lightcycle races and game disc tournaments.
Now nearly 30 years later we are about to return to the grid. A few weeks ago I managed to see a few brief minutes (21 minutes exactly but it felt brief) of TRON: Legacy in IMAX 3D. I was already pretty excited about this film but those minutes cemented it’s place in the must see films of the year. The whole thing screamed TRON and the soundtrack supplied by Daft Punk just hit the right tone.
It’s only a few weeks now until it’s release here so if you haven’t experience the joy of TRON yet, here are the trailers and posters for what is looking to be the next big 3D success.
